I’ve noticed recently that even though the daily temperatures still rise into the 90’s in the early morning hours I’ve needed an extra layer. There is a crispness to that early air signaling the transition from summer to fall. Last week the atmosphere on campus shifted as well. The sidewalks were full of people coming and going, the bookstore was crowded, the parking lots were full. There is an anticipation in the air signaling the start of a new semester. New classes, new faces, new opportunities to explore and discover. The potential is palpable.

The upcoming start of the UtahPresents’ season is part of this feeling of anticipation in the air. As I look at the calendar of events for the next few months it is full of potential. Potential to find new ways to think about challenges and inspire increased participation on our campus and the larger community with TEDxSaltLakeCity, a daylong event in September exploring the theme of Upcycled Thinking. Potential to discover what results when you combine technical virtuosity on a brass instrument with the comedic brilliance of Mnozil Brass in October. Potential to ask difficult questions about how to navigate love and illness and death with the powerful play, Mercy Killers, in November.   Potential to witness the explosion of poetry, percussion, and a multi-cultural mash up of musical expressions that Universes will bring to our community in December.

So much potential. Join us and be a part of what happens. #creativityconnected
